Newport Speedway is getting ready for a big night of racing this Friday, October 2, as the zMAX CARS Tour makes its first visit to the Newport track.
The event will feature some big names in racing, including Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick, along with a strong field of CARS Tour competitors.
Practice is scheduled to begin around noon and continue into the afternoon, giving fans an opportunity to see the teams and cars on the track before the evening races.
Driver introductions are scheduled for 7:30 p.m., with the Late Model Stock race scheduled for 8 p.m. and the Pro Late Model race following at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The event was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved to Friday because of the weekend weather forecast.
For Newport and Cocke County, this is a significant racing event, bringing the CARS Tour and several well-known drivers to the recently revived Newport Speedway.
